Swept Wing Bat has broad, raised wings. Flying Bat is a compact silhouette, while Wide-wing Bat spreads across a horizontal space. Scalloped Bat and Spiked-wing Bat add sharper edges. Bat Gravestone includes a second motif and is better treated as a larger decoration.
For a window border, compare the outside shape before printing. For a pumpkin, check that the wing span fits the usable front without wrapping far around the sides. Use Customize on the design you choose to change its width; the editor loads that exact bat.
A Stencil Mask Is Different from a Hanging Paper Bat
These files show black cut openings on white kept material. To spray or dab a bat, cut the black shape out of the stencil sheet. If you want a standalone black-paper bat to hang, use the silhouette as a tracing guide and cut around its outer edge instead. That changes which piece you keep.
Keep registration and paper margins when painting several bats. Test removable paint and the stencil sheet on your chosen surface. Pair bats with ghost templates or witch silhouettes.
Choosing Your Bat Templates
Compare the wing tips first. Broad wings are easier to cut for a small card; scalloped edges need more room. Keep white connections intact and proof the tips at the final size.
Download, Print and Cut at the Right Size
Choose A4 or US Letter and download the PDF directly. No account is needed for these library files. Each PDF places the pattern in a 150 mm square and includes a 25 mm test line. Choose “Actual size” or 100% in your print dialog, and measure the line before transferring the design. Black areas are the cutouts; white areas are kept.
The PNG is 2100 × 2100 pixels. For another size, open the pattern in the editor. Saving projects and downloading edited artwork require a free account; PNG and single-page PDF are free. Vector export and full-size tiled printing are Pro features; see the plans page for available upgrades.
Artwork and Template Permission
The library combines independently drawn StencilMaker.app patterns and adapted public-domain artwork. Adapted patterns include their source and creator in the cutting-tip details and printable PDF. These template artworks are free to print and use in personal or commercial projects. This permission does not grant rights to third-party designs or StencilMaker.app branding. Read the template permission.
Which bat template is suitable for a small decoration?+
Start with Swept Wing Bat or Flying Bat, then check the wing tips at your intended print size. A broader shape generally leaves fewer fine cuts than the bat-and-gravestone design.
Can I make hanging bats from these files?+
Use the silhouette as a tracing guide and cut around the outside for a standalone paper bat. For painting with a stencil, cut black openings from the surrounding sheet instead. The downloaded mask is prepared for the second workflow.
Can I print the bat on US Letter paper?+
Yes. Choose US Letter before downloading the PDF. Print at Actual size and measure the 25 mm test line. A4 files are available in the same control.
How do I change a bat's wing span?+
Choose Customize on the bat, then set the artwork width in the export panel. Review thin wing tips and white connections after resizing. Edited PDF and PNG downloads need a free account.
