A single hooked cane makes a narrow vertical motif. Paired canes, hearts and ribboned arrangements need more width and contain extra crossing points. Decide whether you want the whole arrangement or a small repeat before choosing a file.
Check the inner hook and diagonal stripes on a paper proof. White stripes are material you keep; cutting through them joins paint openings that should stay separate. For a repeating border, use a simple cane and mark the spacing before moving the sheet. Pair it with a gingerbread motif or a stocking on a separate part of the project. These designs are decorative templates, not confectionery moulds.
