1. Start With a Library PDF
Open the free stencil template library, choose a theme and select a pattern. The Download PDF and PNG links are direct library files: no signup, card or editor step is required. For a first proof, use the Open Flower stencil. Its broad petals are easier to inspect than a fine botanical ornament.
A library file is different from an edited project. If you choose Customize, change the cutouts and download that new version, a free account is required. The editor is free to try before signing up. PNG and single-page PDF are Free formats; vector files and tiled PDF printing require Pro.
2. Choose A4 or US Letter Before Downloading
On the pattern page, set Paper size to the paper in your printer, then choose Download PDF. A4 and US Letter are separate files, not a setting that changes your printer remotely. Each library PDF uses a 150 mm artwork square and a 25 mm test line. The actual flower may occupy less than the square.
Open the saved PDF in a viewer that exposes print scale. Keep the whole page visible in the preview, including the test line and the outside margin. The PNG is useful for another layout program, but its pixel dimensions alone do not set the physical print size.
3. Print and Measure a Proof
Choose Actual size or 100% in the print dialog, and check that the selected paper matches the downloaded PDF. Adobe's PDF print-size instructions explain the difference between actual size and automatic scaling. The option names can differ in other viewers.
Measure the printed test line: it should be 25 mm at the original scale. Hold the proof against the card, sign or pumpkin where the design will go. Check the outer border and the narrowest white bridge. If the line measures differently, correct the print setting before cutting your final material.
4. When the Download or Print Looks Wrong
If the PDF opens in a browser instead of saving immediately, use that viewer's download control and then print the saved file. On a phone, your PDF viewer or operating system handles the printer connection; this website cannot check which printer is selected.
If the pattern is clipped, confirm the paper size and preview. If you deliberately want a different size, follow the resizing guide instead of relying on Fit to page. For a larger design assembled from several sheets, read full-size and tiled printing. Once the proof fits, use the first hand-cut project to prepare the sheet.
