Cricut Stencil Maker
Make it here, cut it on Cricut. Prepare bridges and layers in the browser, then use Pro to export one aligned SVG for Design Space.
Prepare an Image for a Cricut Stencil
Upload a photo, drawing or logo and simplify the shapes. Choose a single layer for your first stencil. Several layers can add colour once you are comfortable with alignment.
Inspect highlighted islands: even a precise machine cut needs connections to keep enclosed material attached. Use automatic bridges or draw your own, then review the result.
One Grouped SVG Cut File
Choose Cricut in the export panel. Pro puts the aligned layers into a single SVG, with optional registration marks. The free plan provides PNG and PDF for printing and hand cutting.
Import the SVG into Design Space. Confirm dimensions and layer grouping before arranging the cut. Choose material, blade and pressure settings in Design Space.
For Vinyl and Reusable Craft Stencils
Keep small bridges wide enough for your material and weeding process. A paper proof helps you catch fragile details before cutting the final sheet.
Try the full editor in the stencil maker. SVG export is a Pro feature; see the plan comparison for the free download allowance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Cricut cut file free?
Editing is free, but the grouped SVG cut file requires Pro. The free plan provides PNG and PDF for printing and cutting by hand. Paid upgrades are not available yet.
How do I open it in Design Space?
Choose Cricut in the export panel. Import the resulting grouped SVG into Design Space, check its dimensions and inspect the layers. Set up your material and cut settings there.
Why do I still need bridges for a machine cut?
A cutter can cut an enclosed shape precisely, but it cannot stop the middle falling out of the material. Bridges keep those centres connected to the sheet.
